Ever wanted to be a knight? To learn how to fight with sword and shield? To armor up and fight upon the field of honor? Or perhaps to learn how to dance, sew, and write like they did in medieval Europe?
Then Castle Tintagel is the perfect place for you!
We are Tokyo's one and only medieval Western martial arts and cultural center. Here you can learn anything from 15th century German longsword to Renaissance dancing. Our martial arts include the Academy of Chivalry, where students learn to fit and maintain armor, make practice weapons, and all the other skills you need to become a knight in this day and age. Students of the Academy of Chivalry gain all the skills needed to become an armored fighter. Our longsword and sword and buckler classes offer a chance to learn medieval fighting styles without the need for armor. We also offer rapier activities, including both stage and competitive rapier.
On the cultural side, we have Renaissance dances (specializing in 15th-16th century French, English and Italian), costume-making classes for a variety of historical items, and even calligraphy classes. Our in-house store has a variety of period costumes and armor for sale. Regular parties and events give our members a chance to socialize and show off their skills, medieval-style.
