Experience

March 2012 Jay participated in the medieval Western fencing Forum held by HEMA Alliance in the United States. Draw 4 tournament of 1 times, winning in the final, was the runner-up 1 good one time. This year Castle Tintagel also joined the HEMA Alliance.
August 2011 Worked on the animated movie "Berserk" as the medieval martial arts consultant, designing some of the action sequences and teaching medieval swordwork to the stuntmen.
2008 Created "Castle Tintagel", a historical arts and culture school in Mejiro. Incorporated as "Tintagel KK" in 2008. Partners: Yoko Kasai, Grant Morgan, Keiichi Tada. Teaches classes in German 2-handed sword, armoured half sword, pole axe, dagger, weapon and shield, and sword and buckler.
2007 Created “Knight School”, Tokyo’s first historical Western martial arts class
2006 Studied intensively with Stefan Dieke at Alte Kampfkunst school in Wuppertal, Germany
2005 Featured in artist reference book “動くポーズ集 5” (Ugoku Pozu Shu 5) in 100 page chapter on historical European combat. Published in 2005 (Japanese edition) and 2006 (Korean edition) by MAAR
2004 Led the Paladin Projects stunt team for the Final Fantasy XII video game (released 2006 by Enix-Square)

2000 Founded Avalon, Japan’s medieval combat and culture club, with chapters in Tokyo and Osaka, and members nationwide. Served as leader of the group until 2010.
1993-2007 Member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, America’s largest medieval recreation group. Practiced medieval armoured combat.
